Spy Mind
A downloadable game for Windows
SpyMind is a serious game designed to train executive functions in children with ADHD. You play as an elite secret agent tasked with infiltrating a high-security enemy base. Your weapon isn’t a gun—it’s your memory, your focus, and your voice.
By gamifying cognitive exercises like the N-Back task, auditory processing, and sustained attention, SpyMind turns therapy into a thrilling espionage mission.
🎮 Mission Briefing (Gameplay):
You are deep behind enemy lines. Your objective: steal sensitive data and relay it back to headquarters before you get caught.
- Infiltrate the Base: Navigate through secure corridors. To bypass security doors, you must engage in hacking mini-games powered by your working memory (N-Back mechanics).
- Steal the Data: Locate the enemy’s secret files.
- Report to the Handler: This is the most critical part of the mission. Using your real-world microphone, you must read the stolen data aloud clearly and accurately to your Handler.
- Stay Undetected: Maintain high levels of focus. If your attention drifts or your memory fails, the base’s alarm system will trigger!
🧠 The Science Behind the Spy (Training Mechanics):
SpyMind is built on evidence-based cognitive training methods:
- N-Back Training: Increases working memory capacity by requiring the agent to track repeating sequences to “hack” terminals.
- Verbal Rehearsal: The microphone mechanic forces the player to convert visual information into verbal output, strengthening the phonological loop and reading focus.
- Sustained Attention: The game rewards keeping a steady focus over time, simulating the need for a spy to stay alert.
🕹️ Controls & Setup:
- Mouse/Keyboard: Navigate the base and interact with terminals.
- Microphone (Required): You must have a working microphone to play. Read the text on the screen out loud when prompted to verify the data transfer.
